McCullough Robertson named employer of choice for third year running
For the third consecutive year McCullough Robertson Lawyers has received the prestigious Employer of Choice for Gender Equality citation from the Workplace Gender Equality Agency (WGEA).
The national citation recognises employers that are adopting leading practices to promote gender equality in the workplace.
McCullough Robertson Partner and Chair of Diversity Committee Guy Humble said gender equality in the workplace wasn’t about ideology or political correctness but economic opportunity.
“Diversity of thought and approach within our organisation results in richer outcomes for our clients and our community – it simply makes good business sense,” said Mr Humble.
In the past 12 months the national firm has appointed four new partners to its Brisbane and Sydney offices, all of whom are women.
It also piloted a program to help its most senior women manage the competing demands of work and family life. During its four-month trial, the firm’s ‘concierge’ service coordinated an insurance claim for building repair, sourced accommodation options, helped plan a first birthday party and carried out various domestic tasks.
Chairman of Partners Dominic McGann said that the firm was committed to finding practical solutions that help women manage the pressures associated with peak periods.
“It’s important that we remain open to feedback about how we can best support women to work successfully and sustainably at the very top.”
Other innovative solutions at the firm include grandparent’s leave, onsite car parking for women during their third trimester of pregnancy, a fully equipped kid’s room and paid superannuation on unpaid parental leave.
WGEA Director Libby Lyons congratulated the 2016 citation holders for their commitment and recognition of the strong business case for gender equality.
