Graduates & Interns

We are proud to be a big firm without the attitude.

At McCullough Robertson, our common purpose of Unlocking Success. Together unites us.  This purpose guides our collaboration and collegiate relationships with our clients, our community and of course with each other.

We are in search of remarkable students who like us, are down to earth, generous, committed and commercial, and will take every opportunity provided to them and make the most of it!

Right from the start, as an intern or graduate you are welcomed into the firm with a hands on role within our supportive practice groups so you are learning, being challenged, stretched and supported from day one.

We understand you are seeking practical experience with quality and challenging work across a broad range of practice areas as you develop your career.  Our structured development program helps you build on that experience and enables you to develop relationships and networks with peers, industry groups and clients. Additionally as part of small Partner led teams you will work alongside mentors and supervisors who are recognised experts and leaders in their fields.

Make sure you connect with us on Facebook and LinkedIn to keep up to date with opportunities and events as they become available.

Our internship program

Did you know that most of our interns receive full-time graduate offers after completing our intern program? Potentially you can kick start your legal career by returning to your final university year with a confirmed graduate position and the benefits of a rich development program.

Our firm believes old ways won’t open new doors, which supports our innovative and entrepreneurial spirit (amongst other strengths) that has supported our success over the past 90+ years. That’s why our leading and unique intern program is different to the usual clerkship program.

We invite remarkable pre-penultimate and penultimate students to join us as interns to develop skills, knowledge, peer networks and relationships – a whole year earlier!

Our two year program in Brisbane offers a four week placement in year one and again in year two connecting you with a mentor for the program duration, allowing you to experience a different practice group each year.

Our graduate program

Our 18 month Graduate Program consists of two nine month (Brisbane) or three six month (Sydney) rotations providing the opportunity to develop your knowledge, skills and peer relationships within practice areas of your choice.

The program is designed to help you bridge the gap between formal education and legal practice comprising a range of core competencies and recommended training from legal practice management to business development and networking.

Working alongside our industry and technical specialists, you will be an important member of the team and responsible for delivering commercial solutions to our clients. You will be supported with ongoing feedback and mentoring and coaching. To balance work, we have a range of sporting, social and community activities you can engage with.
