About Emile
Emile is a Senior Associate in our Property Planning and Finance team, with four and a half years in the property and finance space and previous private client structuring experience. His skills across these areas and understanding of commercial drivers present a holistic offering for his clients.
In the finance space, Emile is predominantly focused on acting for senior lenders on development projects, while also regularly acting for private and mezzanine lenders. His work also involves acting for receivers and managers in secured recoveries, borrowers under a range of financing transactions and debt sales. In addition to transactional work, Emile also advises on personal properties securities law and other security issues.
Emile has a strong background across a range of property disciplines, including commercial acquisitions, disposals and development arrangements. He acts for a number of landlords of retail tenancy shopping centres and assists across the full range of leasing, from the initial grant through to defaults and termination. Emile acts for both scheme operators and residents in all aspects of retirement villages, including acquisition and disposal and operation.
Emile is also a Community Partnership Champion, chair of the CPP Committee (which assists to coordinate the firm’s pro bono and corporate social responsibility initiatives) and sits on the board of the McCullough Robertson Foundation.

Secured recoveries
Acting for receivers and managers in the disposal of a mixed retail, commercial and residential development site, including state lease, liquor and gaming licence issues and vendor finance.
Development funding
Represented lenders in two development funding arrangements valued at over $115 million, from initial due diligence and documentation through to releases.
Debt sale
Acting for a listed company in the sale of a debt portfolio worth in excess of $50 million, comprising thousands of loans governed by consumer credit legislation.
Retail leasing
Ongoing representation for a landlord in all aspects of leasing for a 30+ tenancy shopping centre.
Retirement village
Assisting across all aspects of a Queensland retirement village acquisition, including documentation, due diligence, senior and mezzanine financing, Departmental requirements and continued operations.
Restructure
Implementing a restructure of property holdings and funding arrangements for high net worth individuals.
