About Joseph
Joseph’s experience spans the building, infrastructure, resources and renewables industries, having acted for property developers, aged care providers, mining houses, gas companies, agricultural companies, local and state government and a variety of contractors and consultants. He is enthusiastic about working interactively with clients and as part of their broader project teams.
Joseph’s expertise covers the entire lifecycle of a project, including procurement and probity advice, drafting contractual documentation, negotiating, contract administration and claims advice. He regularly reviews contractual documents when acting bid side for contractors, suppliers, service providers and consultants.
He has worked on major building and development projects across Australia and provided advice to the Queensland government on various large infrastructure projects and funding agreements. His experience also includes advising resources and renewables clients, assisting them with rail infrastructure, rail haulage, port infrastructure, port capacity, electricity and other operational agreements (including major mining services contracts).
Joseph provides his clients with tailored advice on the myriad of legislative provisions including unfair contracts, misleading or deceptive conduct, licensing and an array of other treatments for contracts (such as security of payment, project bank accounts, building regulations, work health and safety, mining law, environmental law and personal property securities law).

Experience
Jewel, Gold Coast
Acted on the $1 billion Jewel development on the Gold Coast. Drafted and negotiated all procurement, consultancy and construction documentation for this landmark project, including for the engagement of the head contractor Multiplex.
Building Queensland
Prepared the legal sections of the business case for three major road projects upgrades for the Bruce Highway, Queensland, each valued over $100 million.
Department of Transport & Main Roads
Assisted with detailed advice on rail accreditation issues. Drafted and negotiated various interface agreements and infrastructure agreements, for both road and rail.
Bengal Coal
Acted on co-use agreements concerning the mine’s interface with rail and power infrastructure, including negotiations with counterparties Powerlink, Ergon and Aurizon.
Frasers Property
Advised on construction and property legislation in Queensland. Prepared and negotiated contract documents for various developments (including at Hamilton Reach, Hamilton and Cova, Hope Island).
Clough / Downer JV
Assisted CDJV bid side with a circa $600 million contract with Fluor, for the Santos liquefied natural gas project. Drafted the contract administration manual and template subcontracts for use on the project and provided ongoing contractual support.
